15th Anniversary
November 21, 2011
Cibolo Creek Community Church recently celebrated it 15th Year Anniversary on November 6th. This party included Big Lou's Pizza, a Cup Cake War, & large inflatables for the kids. We combined two services into one and made special accommodations to host the large number of Adventureland kids that showed up for the one service. Not only did we have our regular small group leaders and volunteers, we also had a number of adults step up to be extra hands in the classrooms. Those of you that help...totally rocked! Without all this help, Adventureland could not have happened.

The Bridge
September 20, 2011
Hey Adventureland families!
Ever thought about the awesomeness of bridges? I normally don't sit in my office thinking of such but this week I have made an exception. It's one of those things we take for granted. If it wasn't for the three bridges I cross everyday I go to work, I don't know my ol' Jeep could make the 7 mile journey.
Today, we reminded your kids in Adventureland of the awesomeness of bridges. More specifically, we talked about the awesomeness of THE BRIDGE, making a reference to what Christ does for us. It was discussed how Christ is our one and only path or bridge to God ... read more

Freaky Friday: Anglerfish
June 16, 2011
As a kid, I loved creatures. If it was an animal, I wanted it. In fact, I was able to convince my parents into letting me raise sheep, hamsters, fish, dogs, cats, hedgehogs, cockatiels, and one obnoxious cockatoo named Baby. Not to mention the horses and cows we had on the farm. I loved animals so much, I remember telling my mother I wanted to become a zoo keeper when I grew up.
This summer, I decided to talk about some of the weirdest creatures on the planet with our kids. It seems only natural with my background and love for animals. We are talking about some of the unique charact ... read more

My Story. Your Story. His Story.
April 18, 2011
Howdy!
First off, thanks so much for joining Cibolo Creek Community Church for our Easter Service. It was our pleasure hosting you and your kids. In Adventureland, we talked about the Easter story from a couple different perspectives. We contrasted many of our family Easter traditions (Easter Egg Hunts, Family Picnics, etc) with the true reason we celebrate Easter, the resurrection of Christ.
Parents and Adventureland kids, take a few minutes to watch this short Adventureland video together. Follow the instructions of the video. It will ask you to press <pause> a couple ... read more

Unhindered
March 08, 2011
In Luke 18, the disciples shoo kids away from Christ. I have no doubt they felt like He had more important things to tend to. However, Christ does something beautiful – he says “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Christ knew the value of kids.
Each Sunday, Adventureland enlists the help of some of the greatest volunteers anywhere to create an environment that does not hinder the kids learning. They have spiritual discussions with our kids and discuss Biblical truths. Each Sunday, they are heroes in the eyes of ... read more

Kids Nite Out
October 29, 2010
Do you ever feel like life is busy?
For as long as I can remember, life has been busy. I am the third born of four kids. Each of us had our own interests as kids. For my brother, it was drawing and baseball. My older sister enjoyed tennis and piano. I loved basketball and tennis. My younger sister dominated cross-country and track. That does not include homework, UIL academics, or church. Not to mention the number of activities my parents were involved in such as School Board, MOPS, teaching Sunday School/marriage classes.
Life was busy.
Many of you resonate with that busy schedule. O ... read more

::initiative::
October 12, 2010
Initiative.
All month long, we are talking to the kids of
Adventureland about initiative, which we are defining as “seeing what needs to
be done and doing it.”
Initiative isn’t easy.
It’s the “and doing it” part of the definition that makes
initiative so hard. Seeing the dirty dishes or noticing somebody on the side of
the road with a flat tire is not difficult. Taking action makes it hard.
All month long, we will be taking a look at Nehemiah’s
life. We will be teaching kids several points that we believe kids need to understand
about initiative…

It's a big deal.
October 06, 2010
It is 11:52pm at night. We just laid my 22 month old down for bed. He is sick. Minutes ago, he was crying in the bathtub with a 103 degree temperature with my wife by his side. He was shaking from the chill of the water, but we had to get his temp down. It took 40 minutes and lots of tears, but it finally lowered.
It’s hard to see him like this. Hurting. Tired. Sick.
My wife and I are new to this parenting gig. At times like this I am reminded how much we love him. I forget all the times I’ve been frustrated with him for throwing his carrots and the times he has told me “no” wh ... read more

A lesson on RESPECT
September 09, 2010
When I was five years old, I learned a valuable lesson. My momma is bigger and faster than me.
Thinking it was just me and my sister in the room, I walked straight up to her and called her "Boo Boo Face". Yep, I called her a "Boo Boo Face" and you know what? It felt good. I do not remember what she did to deserve it but I have no doubt in my mind that she did deserve it.
However, as soon as the words left my mouth, I heard my mom rush into the room screaming my name.
What happened next is somewhat of a blur. I panicked. I ran. I screamed in sheer terror. My momma was right on my h ... read more

10:9
August 17, 2010
Romans 10:9 says
That if you confess with you mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Last night, the Kingdom of God grew when one of our Cibolo Creek kids confessed with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and asked Christ to rule over his life.
That is what Kids Camp is all about.
Luke 18:15-17 tells of a story where Christ instructs the disciples to let the children come to Him unhindered. Camp is a chance for kids to get away from the many distractions that exist in their everyday life and focus thei ... read more

Camp is Here
August 17, 2010
I know that sounds like an obvious statement as I sit here at camp with all of your kids, but I mean it in a different way...Camp is here.
Each year that Cibolo Creek goes to SL4K camp, normal is redefined. And the only reason normal is redefined is just because we are at camp...
it is cool to have your entire body covered in the color RED.
it is acceptable to sleep in your luggage bag instead of a bed (one of the boys).
it is awesome to wake up the adults with the sound of thunder sticks at their door (3rd grade girls).
to be asked to join "Super Heros" on ... read more
