Our Story

The story of Cibolo Creek Community Church is really all about people.  Without people, Cibolo Creek Community Church has no story.

About dozen people helped start Cibolo Creek back in the Fall of 1996.  Some of them had been close friends. Some of them were friends of friends.  Together they imagined the possibilities of a church in their community where they could explore their faith in God while sharing it with people who weren’t really all that interested in either God or church.

From the very beginning, the dream of Cibolo Creek Community Church was about becoming a community of committed followers of Jesus Christ who would serve people otherwise uninterested in all this talk about God and faith. From what we could tell, that best reflected the heart of Jesus Christ for the world.

After Cibolo Creek began, a few more people showed up, stuck around and started pitching in to make those first few years of Cibolo Creek a wonderful adventure.  In those days we met together in an elementary school for our Sunday morning services. It took quite a few people each week to set it all up, tear it all down and pack it all away for another week before turning around to do it all over again six days later…every weekend for six years!  That’s a pretty special group of people who will do that for so long and keep a great sense of humor about it.  The friendships that were forged in those days would last a lifetime.  The ingenuity, the determination and the tenacity that exuded from the people who really got Cibolo Creek off and running in those first few years are some of the finest people a church could want. Cibolo Creek has been blessed with a lot of wonderful people through the years.

Over time, those people told other people about their church and still more started showing up. Some visited once or twice.  Some stayed around a while and then moved on.  But quite a few found something at Cibolo Creek that felt a lot like a family in a refreshing and relevant expression of faith that made a profound difference in their life. More than a dozen years later, Cibolo Creek continues to thrive thanks to the wonderful people who keep coming through our doors and finding a place they now call home.

Today, people continue to be the heart and soul of Cibolo Creek Community Church.  Together we keep exploring what it means to be a church in the twenty-first century without all the trappings of traditional religion.  We don’t have it all figured out and we don’t always get it right, but we keep dreaming.  We try new things, take some risks and come up with some different approaches now and then that we believe best reflect the heart of Jesus Christ for people.

If that’s the kind of church you think you might be interested in trying, come visit us any time at Cibolo Creek Community Church.

OUR VISION

Our Vision is to become a biblically functioning community of fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ where God's redemptive purposes can be accomplished in our world.

OUR MISSION
Cibolo Creek is on a mission. We have a very intentional strategy to accomplish a very specific objective. In fact, we're passionate about it. We think it's what God has called us to do as a church. It's not for everybody, but it is for us. And it's just amazing how many people are being captivated by a cause worth giving themselves to.

The way we say it around here is that "We exist to help unchurched people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ." That's our mission. Crystal clear. To the point.

PURPOSE
A fuller explanation of what we're up to is described in what we call our Purpose Statement. It outlines our highest priorities. In other words, we don't spend a lot of time, money or energy on anything that doesn't help us accomplish one or more of these strategic priorities in the life of our church.

1. To help people discover a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

2. To nurture them to Christ-like maturity within authentic Christian community.

3. To equip them to use their God-given abilities to make a difference in their world for the Kingdom of God.
